About Us

Team 2634 | The Gryphons

Chaminade Robotics is a multifaceted club catering to student interest and talent but which also exists to promote STEAM ideas as well as FIRST Robotics. Through its community involvement, Chaminade Robotics members mentor elementary school students and bring mechanical, electrical, and coding skill to an approachable and tangible level. The members of team 2634 have the unique ability to take curriculum from their classrooms and utilize their constructed knowledge to solve 21st Century, inquiry-based problems in a collaborative setting with a lateral system of respect. Robotics not only challenges the boys academically and intellectually, but it also allows them to build life-long friendships, connections, and build skills necessary for success in the future. Below this description is an archive of past competitions that our team has competed in.

The game we played in the 2023-2024 season was Crescendo, a game themed around music and concerts. The main objective of the game was for our robot to shoot disc shaped objects called "notes" into a tall receptacle called a "speaker". We had to create a robot that can shoot, move, climb, and handle the fast paced nature of the game while also abiding by FRC rules. In the end, we developed a robot that can quickly get across field, shoot discs with ease, and keep up with any other robot on the field. The content below features content from our games in the Ontario Provincial Championships and the preceding qualifiers in Windsor and Durham College.

The first competition we competed in after our hiatus was the 2022-2023 FIRST robotics CHARGED UP competition. The competition focused on energy and sustainable development. Our robot had to carry and place cubes and cones in their designated scoring areas. Using our technical expertise, team 2634 was able to create a robot that abided the FRC guidelines and succeeded in scoring effectively. 2020-2022
Covid Years

Technical Difficulties :(

From late 2020 to early 2022 our team did not attend any competitions because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the situation was unfortunate, during our time off we continued to build, practice, and elevate our game in order to succeed in future competitions!

2019 - 2020

The 2019-2020 FIRST Robotics Season set out a Star Wars theme for their new tournament. With it, brought a new set of challenges for Team 2634. A bot was needed to be able to pick up, store, and shoot up to 5 balls, while also being able to spin a horizontal wheel and pulling itself up a hanging rod that the bots need to balance out. With Team 2634's dedication, effort, and skilled team members, we were able to create a bot that can conquer tasks, while maintaining a weight under the limit of 125lbs.

2018 - 2019

Destination: Deep Space

The Task

First Robotics 2019 Competition
Destination: Deep Space

The 2018-2019 FIRST Robotics Season brought the team a new set of challenges and limitations for a robot. The task? A bot that could pick up and place orange 'cargo' balls in both a centre 'cargo ship' and up to 7ft. 10in. in rocket towers. The catch, however, is that hatch panel discs must be placed on the cargo ship and rockets' openings to secure the balls. To score additional points, the bot also needs to be able to get on top of an elevated platform before the end. Through teamwork, time, and effort, Team 2634 has created GryphonX, a bot that meets these needs and the weight requirement of under 125lbs.
